She came, she saw, she conquered and unfortunately she left us. Arfa Karim Randhawa, whose name when taken in front of people, they think of a small girl standing with Bill Gates in a photograph. What made her so special? Why she became so famous? Because, she was the youngest MCP (Microsoft Computer Professional) at the age of 9.
Arfa Karim Randhawa, born in 1995 in a small village of Ram Dewali, Faisalabad Pakistan. She was daughter of Lt.Col Amjid Karim serving in UN Peace keeping force in South Africa. Her mother is a land lady and looks after the matters of land in the absence of her father.
She was an outstanding student of her class as well as she was a good debater of her school. when she saw computer at the age of 5, she insisted her father to arrange a computer for her and she decided to take admission in Applied Technologies (APTECH) for further studies and at that time no one knew that this little princess will conquer the world of computer.
At just the age of 9 in 2004, she made a world record becoming world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCPs). This news spread all over the world like Jungle’s fire. She was in limelight and the tv channels proudly invited her to their live programs and to add the surprise Mr.Bill gates (Chairman Of Microsoft) personally invited her at Microsoft Head quarter. She along with her father met Bill Gates in July 2005. She also received Fatimah Jinnah Gold Medal, Youth Award and Pride of Performance. She was the only Pakistani to attend Microsoft’s conference in Barcelona held in 2006.
December 22nd, 2011, a news shocked the whole Pakistan, that due to a cardiac disease she has been admitted to Hospital and is in coma. Bill Gates himself arranged a team of doctors for her, there wasn’t a single hand, who didn’t prayed for her. Although she was improving after a 3 weeks treatment but, on January 14th, 2012 she left this world and all of us. The whole nation mourned for her death. Without any doubt she was an asset of Pakistan. Arfa, We’ll never forget you.
